Dr Sharon Marie Barnhardt is the Director – Research at the Centre for Social and Behaviour Change at Ashoka University. She is an applied development economist and behavioural scientist whose research uses experiments to study policy-relevant issues in India, with a focus on sanitation, malnutrition and behavioural change.
She is a Faculty Affiliate at the Jameel Abdul Latif Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and IZA, Bonn, and has taught behavioural economics and programme evaluation for institutions including the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, J-PAL South Asia and CLEAR. Her professional experience includes roles at the World Bank, J.P. Morgan, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and IFMR Business School at Krea University.
She holds a PhD from Harvard University, an M.P.A. from Princeton University and a Bachelor’s degree from New York University. She is also actively involved in executive education and capacity building for the policy sector.
