S. Mahalingam is a senior business leader with over four decades of experience spanning technology, finance, corporate strategy, governance and institution building. He spent 42 years with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), serving as Chief Financial Officer from 2003 and Executive Director from 2007 until his retirement in 2013. During his tenure, he played a significant role in TCS’s evolution into a major global technology company.
Since retiring from TCS, he has held leadership and board positions across business, education and the social sector. He has served as Non-Executive Chairman of Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd and City Union Bank, and has been associated with the boards of organisations including Sundaram Finance, Lucas TVS, Kasturi & Sons, TVS Supply Chain Solutions, JSW Steel and Sundaram Fasteners.
His institutional and social-sector engagements have included the Society for Rehabilitation of Crippled Children, Vidya Bharathi Trust, IIT Madras Research Park, IIITM-K and Krea University. He has also served as Chairman of the Southern Region of the Confederation of Indian Industry, President of the Computer Society of India and President of the Institute of Management Consultants of India.
A Chartered Accountant by qualification, Mahalingam has received multiple recognitions for his leadership in corporate finance from organisations and publications including Business Today, CNBC TV18, FinanceAsia and Institutional Investor.
