Shri S. Krishnan is a senior civil servant with over three decades of leadership experience across technology policy, public finance, infrastructure, industry, urban development and economic policy. An officer of the Indian Administrative Service, he has served as Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, since September 2023.
Over the course of his career, he has held several senior positions with the Government of Tamil Nadu, including Additional Chief Secretary for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce; Additional Chief Secretary for Finance; and Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Development and Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. He was also the founding CEO of the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board and Chairman of the Fifth Tamil Nadu State Finance Commission.
His experience with the Government of India includes serving as Private Secretary to the Union Finance Minister and Deputy Director at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. Internationally, he served as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Executive Director representing India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC, and represented India in G20 expert groups on international financial architecture and global financial safety nets.
Earlier in his career, he served as District Collector of Virudhunagar and held responsibilities in the Finance Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
