Dr A. K. Shiva Kumar is a development economist and evaluator with expertise in human development, including poverty, health, nutrition, basic education, and the rights of women and children. He is Co-Chair of Know Violence in Childhood, a global learning initiative focused on synthesising evidence and advocating for an end to violence.
He teaches economics and public policy as a visiting faculty member at Ashoka University, India and Harvard Kennedy School. He has also contributed extensively to research, evaluation and policy on human development issues.
He is an alumnus of Bangalore University and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University.
