Dr Soumya Pal is a policy scholar and Assistant Professor of Economics at Krea University, with research interests in environmental and resource economics. His work focuses on understanding the macroeconomic implications of climate change, as well as the role of climate adaptation and mitigation actions in shaping economic outcomes.
His research also examines environmental regulations and local environmental degradation through the lens of environmental justice. Before pursuing his PhD, he worked in mathematical demography, including constructing life tables to understand disparities in life years and the loss of healthy life years in India.
He holds a PhD in Public Policy from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Alongside his academic work, he has a keen interest in global cinema and Indian theatre.
