Arti Ahuja is a distinguished retired IAS officer with over three decades of experience in public administration, policy formulation, programme implementation and leadership. Her areas of expertise span health systems, nutrition, social protection, women’s workforce participation and social sector programmes.
She served as Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, where she led reforms focused on workers’ welfare, including the expansion of the e-Shram portal and entitlements for the unorganised sector, and played a key role in the G20 Employment Working Group. She also served as Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, where she led and contributed to major national initiatives across nutrition, women’s empowerment, COVID-19 health management, digital health and industrial policy.
She has served in several national and international advisory roles focused on gender, climate change, nutrition and health, and has contributed to policy and research publications. She is also involved in academia, teaching public policy and nutrition at leading institutions.
She holds a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health, a Master’s in Public Policy from Princeton University, a Master’s in Economics from Panjab University, where she was a Gold Medalist, and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Delhi.
