Kapil Viswanathan serves as the President of IFMR and has played a central role in conceiving and establishing Krea University. An entrepreneur and institution builder, his leadership experience spans education, technology, business, philanthropy and rural development.

Kapil previously co-founded and served as Co-CEO of Lumina Datamatics, a global content and education technology services company that grew to employ more than 2,000 people across India, the US and Europe. Earlier, he worked with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in global sales across Australia, Asia, the UK and the US, and was part of its corporate think tank.

He is also Managing Director of Enfield Agrobase, a social enterprise focused on organic agriculture and rural development, and writes the Learning 4.0 column for Mint, exploring the future of learning, work and business. He serves on the Council of Directors of Kodaikanal International School.
He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
